Nashville –

With all hope and trust in Jesus Christ, William Marshall Webb “Bill”, 78, passed away Wednesday February 14, 2024. He was born on January 3, 1946, in Rocky Mount, to Johnnie and Maggie Webb. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Rodgers and brother, Johnny Webb.

A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Bill was a devout Christian and the beloved leader of his family. Beyond his unwavering faith and devotion to family, he loved to sing and listen to Southern Gospel music. As an active member of Englewood Baptist Church, Bill sought opportunities to be involved and was never ashamed or reluctant to share the Gospel of Christ. Whether sharing his beliefs or bragging on his family, he undoubtedly influenced everyone around him with humility, grace, and an abiding love for all.

As a much loved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend, he is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Denise Webb; son, Shawn Webb and wife, Susie; son, David Webb and wife, Sherry; son, Jesse Webb and wife, Trina; daughter, Michelle Merritt and husband, Bob; sister, Peggy Speight; grandchildren, Joshua, Jordan, Shelby, Victoria, Spencer, Taylor, Kaleb, Kristen, Hailey, Kadin, Kennedy, and Asher; great grandchildren, Landen, Colesyn, Raelynn, and Aubrey. He was also deeply loved and will be missed by many other special friends and extended family members.

From his hospital bed, Bill’s last known reference to Bible scripture was to several of his grandchildren as he simply uttered Philippians 1:21-22, which reads “21 For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better. 22 But if I live, I can do more fruitful work for Christ. So I really don’t know which is better.” The following day these same verses would be discovered again inside his Bible written within a personal document that he had prepared more than a decade earlier. Praise God for such peace and comfort! His life’s purpose was destined to helping make sure others receive that same peace and comfort by telling them of the saving grace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is only fitting that he now continues that work from his new Heavenly home.

Please join family and friends for a special service to remember and honor Bill’s life at 3:00 pm, Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Englewood Baptist Church, 1350 S. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
