Vivian R Anderson

Vivian Shirley Rink Anderson, age 97, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. Born in Catawba County, NC on February 29, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Dewey Rink and Mabel Rink. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Anderson; and brothers, DL Rink, Wes Rink and William Rink.

Vivian was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir until her health started to decline. She was a member of Lydia and Nashville Chapters of the Eastern Star where she served as secretary for both chapters. In addition, she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Micajah J. Pettaway chapter. She worked as a secretary in the Rocky Mount City Schools, first at Braswell School and later at Rocky Mount Senior High. After retirement in 1985, she worked first for the local Junior Achievement office and later for Management Recruiters on a part-time basis.

Vivian leaves behind to cherish her memory, sons, Alan Anderson and wife, Joan, of Rocky Mount; and Bruce Anderson and wife, Vickie, of Brunswick GA. She is also survived by grandchildren, Shawn Anderson and wife, Nichole, of Lancaster SC; Heather Maier and husband, Chris, of Manassas VA; Brandi Crawford and husband, Brian, of Brunswick GA; Amber Anderson of Springfield VA; and Chase Anderson and wife, Marilyn, of Washington DC; great-grandchildren, Blakely Anderson; Grace, Jo, Christian, Winnie and Blaise Anderson; Dillon and Reid Crawford; brother, Francis Rink and wife, Ann, of Hickory NC; and sister, Bobbie Griggs and husband Edsell, of Lawrenceville GA.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 433 S. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service.
