Sylvia Langley Williams

Sylvia Langley “Sookie” Williams, age 79, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021. Born in Nash County, NC on October 7, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Romey “Roscoe” Langley and Stella Louise Keene Langley.

Sookie retired from Burlington Industries. Always the one to tell jokes, cut up, and laugh, she would brighten up any room the moment she walked in, especially when she’d go out dancing and singing karaoke, something she absolutely loved to do, with her cousin and best friend, Carolyn and Wayne. Sookie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.

Sookie is survived by her son, Kevin Williams (Frankie) of Rocky Mount; her daughter, Kristie Williams (Dave Smith) of Rocky Mount; her grandchildren, Chase Williams, Rachel Williams, Everson Smith, and Stella Rose Smith; her brothers, Romey Louis Langley (Starr) and Stanley Beecher Langley (Sylvia); her sisters, Janelle Langley Ezzell (Ken) of Rocky Mount and Bonita Langley Pelt (Curtis) of Rocky Mount; her aunt, Faye Starling (Chick) of Tarboro; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Sookie’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Mark Pridgen officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, July 19, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.

The family would like to say a special thank you to her cousin, Carolyn Lindsey and her friend, Wayne Renfrow for their love and care for Sookie.
