Mrs. Susie mae Sanders

Susie Mae Matthews Sanders, 89, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025. She was born in Nash County, December 11, 1935 to the late Luther and Alcie Manning Matthews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Sanders; son, Ronald Sanders; brothers, John, Sam, and Luther Matthews; sisters, Mary Coppedge and JoAnn Johnson. Her loves were her family, working in her flowers, and reading.

She is survived by her children, Robert Sanders (Judy), Cheryl Cottle (Dan) , Dennis Sanders, and Ricky Kornegay; daughter-in-law, Rose Sanders; grandchildren, Chrystal, Nicholas, Laura, Jacob, Amanda, Misty, Dustin, and Michael; great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Dylan, Garrett, Coleman , Tanner, Noah, Bradley, Abigail, Cameron, Lea, Justin, Jordyn, Ashley, Trinity, Amberlyn, Addalyn, Eric, and Gracie; great-great-grandchildren, Carter, Everette, Aurora, Ariel, Eli, ,Waylon, Brynnleigh Jacob and Levi.

A visitation with family and friends will be Sunday, March 9, 2025 from 1:00-1:45 pm at Cornerstone Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm in the chapel with Pastor Jay Summerlin and Pastor Michael Willard officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
