Shirley Bass Brantley

Shirley Bass Brantley, age 72, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 9, 2022. Born in Wilson County, NC on March 8, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Jessie Wright Bass and Essie Rola Bass. She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Floyd Bass, Mamie Gray Parker, Nell Beebe, Betty Lewis, Richard Bass and Charles “Skeeter” Bass; and her special friend, Wayne Baker.
Shirley retired from Barcalounger after 40 years of dedicated service. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandkids. Shirley would always look forward to her annual Christmas shopping trip with her girls and her sister and every year was a new destination. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. Most of all, she was a wonderful friend, and her heart and spirit will forever be remembered.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Brenda Crumpler Flora and husband, Pat, of Rocky Mount and Kim Brantley Collie and husband, Chris, of Nashville; her grandchildren, the apple of her eyes, Cameron Flora and wife, Lindsey, and Mackenzie Collie; her sister, Bonnie Winstead; and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Gene Wells officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Shirley’s memory to Nash Autism Seeking Hope, 5441 West Mount Drive, Nashville, NC 27856, in honor of her granddaughter, Mackenzie.
