Rocky Mount – Ronald “Ronnie” Wesley Turner, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.  Born in Richmond, Virginia on November 28, 1950, he was the son of the late Raymond Ford Turner, Sr. and Bessie “Bea” Estelle Cattlet Oliver.  He was also preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Nancy Elizabeth Pierce Turner and his stepfather, Oliver Percy Walker.

A man of great faith, Ronnie was a member of Englewood Baptist Church.  He began his career with the railroad, starting with CSX Transportation and later with Amtrak until his retirement after over 30 years.  Following the passing of his wife, Nancy, Ronnie enjoyed spending time with his group luncheon friends from the West Edgecombe 1970s Girls Group and was also an avid Duke Basketball fan.  A devoted and loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and good friend to many, Ronnie will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Ronnie is survived by his daughter, Ronny Elizabeth “Beth” Turner Lewis and husband, Troy; his grandchildren, Tonia Grimsley and husband, Lee, Kelly Grace Lewis and fiancé, Matthew, and Colton Troy Lewis; his great-grandchildren, Anders Grimsley and Leland Grimsley; his brothers, Raymond “Ray” Ford Turner, Jr. and wife, Jackie, Randall “Randy” Keith Turner and wife, Bevelie, and Ricky Walker and wife, Gina; his long-time best friend, Elizabeth “Beezy” Hill; and several nieces, nephew, extended family members, and good friends.

A Celebration of Life Service to celebrate Ronnie’s life will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Pastor Johnny Hendricks officiating.  Visitation with the family will be following the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
