Phillis Pridgen Barnes

Phillis Pridgen Barnes, age 76, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021. Born in Nash County, NC on October 24, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Luther David Pridgen and Eva Lee Hall Pridgen. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Peggy A. Pridgen; her son, Brian “Keith” Moss; her grandson, Zachary D. Williams; and her nephew, Robert A. Pittman.
Phillis enjoyed riding motorcycles over the years. She also enjoyed her crossword puzzles. Phillis loved sitting on her back porch watching her family swim. She could waterski but never learned how to swim. Phillis was always taking care of her family and friends when in need. A devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, she will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
Phillis is survived by her husband of 22 years, Kim W. Barnes; her daughter, Tammy Williams (Kevin) of Rocky Mount; her step-daughter, Ginger Barnes (Cody) of Sharpsburg; her grandchildren, Philip M. McBride (Shannon), Brittany A. Williams (Brad), Bailey Mathis, Blake Wallace, Ashley M. Stakes, Brian S. Moss and Nicholas Matthews; her great-grandchildren, Greyson McBride and Katelynn McBride; and her sisters, Brenda K. Rooks of Rocky Mount and Sandra Drake of Spring Hope.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Phillis’ life will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Joe Price officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Chapel on the Hill Mausoleum. The family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
