Mrs. Peggy Keen Bass

Peggy Keen Bass, age 79, passed away peacefully at her home Thursday evening, September 24, 2026.

She was born on May 6, 1947 in Nash County, NC to Stanford and Christine Thorne Keen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Bass; brothers, Elwood and Kenneth Keen; sister, Edith Turner; brothers-in-law, Joe Turner and Walter Beddingfield and nephews, Joey Turner, Jr and Scott Turner.

Peggy was a devoted Christian and long-time member of Aenon Baptist Church in Elm City, NC. She will be most remembered for her witty personality; she was a character, always making people laugh. She was outgoing and loved being around people. Peggy was also known to celebrate her birthday all month long, never turning down an opportunity to enjoy a meal and fellowship with her friends and family. Though she never had children of her own, she treated her nieces and nephews like they were her kids, always taking care of and supporting them. Peggy was a fierce protector of her family and loved them deeply with all of her heart. Peggy’s memory will never be forgotten – to know her was to love her.

She leaves a loving family that includes her sister, Faye Beddingfield of Rocky Mount; several nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and her Aenon Baptist Church family. Peggy will also be missed by her devoted caregivers, Brian Turner, Chase Miller and Dana Carter as well as her close friends and especially, Linda McDaniel.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, September 28, 2026 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park, 4454 Dortches Blvd, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. 

The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00pm, Sunday, September 27, 2026 at Davis-Little Funerals, 2129 Lawrence Circle, Rocky Mount, NC 27804, and other times at Peggy’s home.
