WHITAKERS – Peggy “Diane” Jordan Ayers, age 77, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022. Born in Nash County, NC on August 6, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Henry Addison Jordan and Myrtle Elizabeth Nelms Jordan. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James “Jim” Maurice Ayers; and her brothers, Franklin “Frankie” Dixon Jordan and James “Jimmy” Leon Jordan.

A woman of strong Christian faith, Diane was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church for many years. She had an adventurous spirit, having learned how to fly next to her husband Jim. A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and dear friend to many, Diane will be forever remembered and never forgotten.

Diane is survived by her daughter, Pamela Flanagan and husband, Timothy; her grandchildren, James Barnes, Daniel Barnes, Haskey Barnes, and Jessica Flanagan; her six great-grandchildren; her sisters, Edna Mae Jordan Starling and Patricia Ann Jordan Williams; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Diane’s life will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Tim Andrews and Rev. James Starling officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 PM to 1:15 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
