Mrs. Nancy Mae Moss Stamey

ROCKY MOUNT – Nancy Moss Stamey, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.  Born in Edgecombe County, NC on August 5, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur Allen Moss and Maggie Eunice Lewis Moss.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Ray Stamey, Sr.; and her brother, Connie Ray Moss.

Nancy was a happy, loving person whose warm spirit made her easy to talk to and a joy to be around. Above all, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, finding comfort in the words of the 23rd Psalm and the beloved hymn “Amazing Grace.”  She delighted in the simple blessings of life, especially time spent outdoors admiring the trees, watching the birds, and taking in the beauty of God’s creation. Visiting with neighbors and enjoying fellowship brought her great happiness, as did the companionship of her beloved dogs.  She had a special fondness for angels and treasured the things that held meaning in her life.  Among those treasures was the bed her father, a carpenter, made for her when she was young – a cherished piece that remains in use today.  During their years together, she and Ray Sr. enjoyed riding motorcycles, sharing time on the open road and making memories along the way. Nancy’s kindness, love, and welcoming nature will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Nancy is survived by her son, Eddie Stamey, Jr. of Rocky Mount; and several nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Nancy’s memory to 3HC Hospice of Wilson, 2516 Ward Blvd., Wilson, NC  27893.
