Marie H Boswell

ROCKY MOUNT – Marie H. Boswell, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. Born in Wilson County, NC on October 17, 1930, she was the daughter of the late William Edger Holland and Betty Jane Grice Holland. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter B. Boswell; 6 sisters; and 4 brothers.

Marie loved gardening and always had beautiful flowers in her yard. She was an artist and loved to paint. She enjoyed sewing in her down time. Marie was a member of many organizations including the local Soup Kitchen and Lake Gaston Women’s Club. She and her late husband Walter enjoyed going dancing at the Moose Lodge on Friday nights and taking trips to the beach. Marie was a faithful servant of God and a devoted Catholic. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her, but her loving spirit will never be forgotten as she was everything to her family.

Marie is survived by her daughters, Barbara Carter (Milton) of Halifax and Doris Holder of Rocky Mount; her son, Bobby Boswell (Marie) of South Carolina; her grandchildren, Wally O. Boswell (Linda), Tina Dickens (Doug), Wendy Bertram (Roger), Milton David Carter (Hally), Mike Carter (Amy), Melissa Burke (Tom), Jason Holder (Ashlee), Miranda Evans (Shane); her adopted granddaughter, Angela Meadows; her 15 great-grandchildren; her 8 great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Betty Hawley (Rufus) of Nashville; her brother, Charlie Denton of Virginia; her dog of 13 years Muffin; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 331 Hammond Street, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Father Tim Meares celebrating. Burial will follow the Mass at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
