Joseph E Baines

Joseph E. “Buddy” Baines passed away on October 4, 2013 at his home. He was born on June 20, 1932 to the late Charlie David Baines and Millie Ganey Baines. Buddy was preceded in death by his brothers Wiley Baines, Gray Baines and Jimmie Baines.
After two years in the army during the Korean War, Buddy returned home to work in Rocky Mount. He was employed as a plumber and pipe fitter for Pemberton, Inc. for 47 years. Buddy was very active in his church, West Edgecombe Baptist, as a deacon, usher and served on many committees.
Buddy was a loving husband and father and was very proud of his family. He was a shining example of integrity and faithfulness. Buddy was patient and kind to strangers and family alike. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Malda Jenkins Baines and two children: Malda Baines Harrell and her husband David and Jeffrey Baines. He is also survived by two grandchildren: Ashleigh Harrell Brown and her husband Kyle as well as Chandler Harrell. Buddy has one surviving sister, Connie Baines Boseman.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Hospice of Nash General. Visitation will be at 1:00 PM on October 5, 2013 at West Edgecombe Baptist Church located at 13821 NC 43 N, Rocky Mount, NC 27801 followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM and interment at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
