ROCKY MOUNT – Joan Johnson Taylor Woodard, age 78, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025.  Born in Nash County, NC on March 6, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Melvin D. Johnson and Betty Pridgen Johnson.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas “Sneaky” Woodard, one brother, Melvin “Squeaky” Johnson, and his wife Linda; and her two dogs that she loved so much, Misty and Jay Jay.

Joan leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Ray Taylor, and wife Renee’ of Elm City; daughter, Cindy Capritta, and husband Dan, of Princeton; her grandchildren, Jessica Radford, Tyler Taylor and Sarah Capritta; one great-grandchild, Olivia Crawford, who always brought a smile to her face, even in sickness; and one sister, Lois Taylor, of Rocky Mount.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Joan’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Bruce Brumfield officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.  Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home.

The family would like to say a special thanks to her neighbor, Jean Greene, for going above and beyond in being there for her and never hesitating to help in any way; and her buddy, Marvin Taylor for making her days much brighter with his daily visits and lifelong friendship.
