Obituary for Jerry Lowe Briggs
Jerry Lowe Briggs, age 91, passed away on Wednesday October 5, 2016. He was born September 5th, 1925 in Vance County, moving to Rocky Mount, N.C. in 1953. He and Ollie Mae Williamson were married March 27, 1948 and were blessed with two children.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Jasper L. Briggs and Millie Woodlief Briggs; brothers Donald W. Briggs and Charles W. Briggs. He is survived by his wife of 68 years; daughters and son-in-laws Jackie Norville and husband Terry and Lisa Ward and husband Steve; granddaughters Amanda Norville and Grayson Rattew; grandsons Matthew Ward and his wife Lauren and Adam Ward; great-grandsons Jackson Rattew and Cannon Ward; sister-in-law Etta Briggs; nieces and nephews and their families-Mitch Briggs, Ricky Briggs, Karen Briggs Bruce, Ronnie Briggs and Kenny Briggs.

Jerry attended Hardbarger Business College and worked with Retail Credit Company (now known as Equifax Services) for forty years. He retired in 1987. Jerry enjoyed fishing, he took his family on lots of vacations and he and Ollie Mae continued to travel after she retired.

Jerry loved his church, First Baptist Church, serving in many capacities including: Deacon, Nursery Services, Wednesday night meals, counting the money taken in with Wednesday night meals, visitation to families.

The family sends Thanks to his caregivers: Linda Neville, Malinda Lynch, Sydney Temple and Joan Colbert.

The funeral service will be held at Wheeler-Woodlief Funeral Home, Saturday October 8th at 11:00 am with the Reverend William V. Grisham officiating. Visitation will be held Friday Night, October 7th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome.
