Jennings "Lee" Bellamy

Jennings “Lee” Bellamy, age 87, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 3, 2022. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on June 11, 1934, he was the son of the late William Jennings Bellamy and Nellie Minton Bellamy. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, William Griffin Bellamy and Marvin James Bellamy.
Lee served in the United States Air Force for four years and retired as a Rural Letter Carrier for the Nashville Post Office after 38 years of service. During this time, he was the President and Secretary of the Tri-County District #25 of the NC Rural Letter Carriers Association and received the One Million Mile Club Award from the National Safety Council. Lee was a member of Marvin United Methodist Church for over 40 years and served as the Financial Secretary and sang in the choir. He also served as a delegate to the NC Conference of the United Methodist Church for several years. More recently, Lee became a member of Englewood United Methodist Church. He loved people and enjoyed making others laugh. Lee took joy in being Santa in the Rocky Mount Christmas Parade and various local churches for several years. An excellent craftsman, he especially enjoyed woodworking. A dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother in law, and dear friend to many, Lee will be forever missed.
Lee leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 62 years, Grace Ezzell Bellamy; his two daughters, Carol Bellamy Pridgen and husband, Tim, and Elaine Bellamy Owens and husband, John; his grandchildren, Danielle Fronefield and husband, Brian, Robert Griffin and wife, Jenny, Leslie Griffin and friend, Stanley Tucker, and Timothy Pridgen; his great-grandchildren, Lucy Webster, Alexis Fronefield, Abby Griffin, Brian Fronefield, Jr., Hunter Griffin, and Landon Tucker; his sister-in-law, Jennifer Bellamy; his nieces, Kathy Rollins and Sarah Hardison; and his nephew, Thomas Bellamy.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Lee’s life will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022 at 12:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Terry Williams officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
