Florene Land Weaver
June 1, 1928 – August 25, 2020
ROCKY MOUNT – Florene Land Weaver, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2020. Born in Nash County, NC on June 1, 1928, she was the daughter of the late John Daniel “Dan” Land and Bettie Eason Land. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William David Weaver; sister, Dorothy Weaver “Tiny” Rowe; and her brother, George Howard “Dump” Land.
Family was always first according to Florene, a sentiment she stressed time and time again to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her family was the center of her world, for which she was beloved by them. She could be easily found sitting on her porch surrounded by friends and family, many times following a meal she had prepared as Florene loved to cook. Her joy of cooking for others was evident from her many years working in the lunchroom for the Nash Rocky Mount School System until her retirement. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend, Florene will be forever missed.
Florene is survived by her daughter, Joan Weaver Pate and husband, Bob, of Nashville; son, Danny Lee Weaver and wife, Debbie, of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Rob Pate, Sara Pate Sloop and husband Tim, Adam Weaver and wife Brittany, and Ashley Weaver Bass and husband Jordan; great grandchildren, Savannah and Eli Sloop, Liam and Hayslee Bass, and Warren Daniel and Benjamin David Weaver; sisters, Vivian Land McIntyre, Myrt Land New, and Duke Land Williams; brothers, Wainwright and Sammy Land; brothers-in-law, Rev. Paul Weaver and Johnnie Elbert Weaver; and many nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Rev. Paul Weaver and Rev. Carlton Cockrell officiating. Visitation with the family will follow the services at the cemetery.
