Edward Milton Bass, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017. Born in Wilson County, NC on September 30, 1934, he was the son of the late William Bass and Pearl Wells Bass. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, William Bass and Bobby Ray Bass.
Milton was in the Army National Guard. He was the owner and operator of Automotive Interior and Van and RV Sales. He was a member of Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church since the church was built in 1979. He was on many committees over the years including being a deacon. Milton was also a longtime member of the local Lions Club. He was a very hard working man that loved spending time with his family. Milton was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Milton leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife of 61 years, Joyce Turner Bass; son, Scott Bass and Kay Dildy; daughters, Lisa Hardison and husband, Jasper, of Washington; and Genia Bissette and husband, Greg, of Rocky Mount. He is also survived by grandchildren, Kimberly DeJong; Megan Luper; and Lauren Bass; great-grandchildren, Makayla, Gracie, Hunter, Riley and Lillie; sister, Jeanette Joyner of Rock Springs, GA; sister-in-law, Dockie Bass of Bahama; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Bryan Creech officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service.
