Dora Harrell

ELM CITY – Dora Shagena Harrell, age 97, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on August 21, 1925, she was the daughter of the late William Nicholas Shagena and Mary Barnes Shagena. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, William Grover Harrell; her great-grandson, Dylan Webb; her brother; and her six sisters.

Dora is survived by her sons, William “Bill” Roscoe Harrell of Rocky Mount and Leslie Wayne “Butch” Harrell and wife, Mary, of Rocky Mount; her daughter, Pam Harrell Pressley and husband, Mike, of Elm City; her grandchildren, Wayne Harrell and wife, Kim, Tracy Webb and companion, Rodney Bailey, and Christy Roach and husband, Johnny; her great-grandchildren, Bradley Harrell, Megan Webb, Searra Harrell, Alec Webb and wife, Autumn, Caroline Roach, and Jacob Roach; and her great great-grandchildren, Chandler Comb, Easton Edmondson, Kenleigh Edmondson, and Paeden Webb.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Dora’s life will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Dion Loving and Rev. Joe Price officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, December 17, 2022, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Dora’s memory to Oakdale Baptist Church, 13037 US 64 Alt., West Hwy., Rocky Mount, NC 27801.
