David Van Hill
David Van Hill, age 91, Retired Owner and Operator of Hills Supermarket, died Saturday, October 18, 2003. He was born in Edgecombe Co. and was the son of the late Henry Thomas and Ruth Griffin Hill. Mr. Hill was a member of the South Rocky Mount Church of God. He is survived by his wife Addie Mae Coley Hill of the home, Daughter and son-in-law Carolyn and Ed Weeks of Stuart, Fla., Sons and daughters-in-law Charles and Gracie Hill of Elm City and. Mitchell and Sally Hill, Nashville, his sister Mary Hill Joyner of Elm City. Six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A gathering to celebrate his life will be 2 p.m. Monday at Johnson Funerals and Cremations, with the Rev. David Whitley officiating, the burial will follow in Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight at the funeral home and other times at the home.
