David Edward Braswell, 86, passed way, Wednesday, September 13, 2023. He was born October 22, 1936 in Nash County to the late Clarence and Betty Edwards Braswell. He loved his family, traveling and working. Ed retired as the City of Rocky Mount Superintendent of Water and Sewer Department after 30 years+. Then Ed and his sons started Ed Braswell and Sons Inc. Utility Contractor, and have been in business for 37 years and still going. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Braswell; brother, Bobby Braswell; Grandchildren, Kelly Braswell and Joshua House; step-son, Donald Thomas Bryan, Jr., step-grandchild, Anna Elizabeth Moss.
He leaves to cherish his memory, three sons, Chuck (Glenda), Gary (Debbie), and Scott (Brenda) Braswell; two daughters, Penny Barbour (Dana) and Lisa Breheim (Jimmy); Step-children,
Maribeth Bryan McKinnon, JoAnna Bryan Robbins; one brother, Warren Braswell; one sister, Annie Laura Brantley; caretaker, Karen Sprinkle; grandchildren, Eddie (Misty) Braswell, Melissa (Jake) Parker, David (Dana) Braswell, Ashley (Jeremy) Beebe, Shannon (Landon) Hoggard, Cody (Samantha) and Caleb (Mariah) Barbour, Hannah Breheim, Matthew Braswell, Laney and Lyndie Wheller; great-grandchildren, Connor, Will, Austin, and Emily Braswell, Hunter and Tanner Parker, Bella and Bentley Braswell, Riley Beebe, Taylor and Lindsay Hoggard, Joshua, Makenzie, and Lucas Barbour; step-grandchildren, Jennifer ( Brent) Moss Chappell and Joseph Bryan Robbins; step great-grandchildren, Noah Chappell, Luke Chappell, and McKinnley Chappell.
Visitation with family and friends will be Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 10:00-10:45am at Cornerstone Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 11:00am in the Chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Moss officiating. Entombment will be Monday, September 18, 2023 at 1:00pm in Rocky Mount Memorial Park Mausoleum.
