ROCKY MOUNT – Billy Sanders Pittman, age 90, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025. Born in Wilson County, NC on July 10, 1934, he was the son of the late Haskell Byron Pittman and Elizabeth Armeda Boswell Pittman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Louise Crocker Pittman and his brother, Leo “Sam” Pittman.
Billy was a long-time member of North Rocky Mount Church of God. He was a Sunday School superintendent and was a trustee for his church. Billy loved driving trucks and did just that for over 30 years. He was a family man, loving husband and extremely proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved nothing better than spending time with them. Billy will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. But his loving spirit will never be forgotten as he was everything to his family.
Billy is survived by his sons, Ronald Keith Pittman, Steve Pittman (Michelle); daughters, Cheryl Sutton and Kathie Moone; grandchildren, Amanda Hooks (Jay), William Pittman (Stephanie), Michelle Shearin (Buddy), Joshua Moone (Bethany), Tyler Moone, Jacob Pittman, Amber Pittman; great-grandchildren, Mason Hooks, Jackson Hooks, Abbie Hooks, Jaxon Moone, Rowyn Moone, Harrison Moone, Kennedy Moone, Zoey Joyner, Ava Shearin, Dayzee Pittman, Samantha Pittman; sister, Peggy Bailey and brother, Cleo Pittman.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM at North Rocky Mount Church of God, 2413 Goldrock Road Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Pastor Timothy Dean officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. A visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 1:45PM prior to the service at North Rocky Mount Church of God, 2413 Goldrock Road Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
