George Hodges

ROCKY MOUNT – George J. Hodges, age 66, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024. Born in Nash County, NC on September 8, 1957, he was the son of the late Carlton Edward Hodges and Beulah Sherrod Hodges. He was also preceded in death by his brother Larry C. Hodges.

George found immense joy in his pursuits, with a deep passion for hunting and, above all, fishing. His life’s fulfillment stemmed from the satisfaction of hard work, primarily in the construction industry, where he dedicated many of his years. In his later stages, he contributed his expertise to his son’s company, where they frequently bonded over fishing excursions along the coast.

George is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Pike Hodges; his daughter, Michelle Hodges Severini (Anthony); his son, George J. Hodges, Jr. (Vicky); his grandchildren, Dylan Hodges, Jordan “Roo-Roo” Hodges, Drake Hodges (Grace), Dayne Hodges, Ava Swanner, Carter Swanner and Eli Severini; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service to celebrate George’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Chapel on the Hill Mausoleum. Entombment will follow the service.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
