Viola Howard

Viola B. Howard, 87, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017. She was born March 11, 1930 in Edgecombe County to the late Sidney and Sallie Davis Bailey. She loved her family, going to the mountains and her Arlington Baptist Church family, where she was a member. Viola enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin P. Howard; son, Joe Howard and five brothers & two Sisters.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Melvin Patrick Howard and wife Julie; one daughter, Gloria Howard Barnes and husband Sidney; one sister, Donnievan Kennedy and husband Jack; daughter-in-law, Connie Howard; special friends, Charlie and Linda Hasty; grandchildren, Allan Barnes (Suzi), Kimberley Barnes (John) and Kelvin Howard (Renee); six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Visitation with family and friends will be Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 1:00-2:00 PM at Cornerstone Funeral Home. A funeral service will be follow at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home with Rev. Carlton Cockrell officiating. Burial will be a Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
