Rocky Mount – Timothy Fondren “Tim” Bartholomew, age 65, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025. Born in Halifax County, NC on May 4, 1960, he was the son of the late Charles Spurgeon Bartholomew and Grace Wynona Savage Bartholomew.
A man of great faith, Tim was a long-time member of Nashville Baptist Church and was a Tenor in the Men’s Ensemble with the church. He was a 1978 graduate of Rocky Mount Senior High and a 1982 graduate of North Carolina Wesleyan College. Tim retired from Brekenridge Retirement Center as an Administrator after 26 years. In his spare time, he was an avid fisherman and was always searching for the one that got away. Known amongst many as the “Engine Master”, Tim especially enjoyed building and working on car engines, many times traveling across the country competing and attending various car shows. A devoted and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and good friend to many, Tim will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Tim is survived by his wife, Teresa Jernigan Bartholomew; his daughter, Tara McDonald; his sister, Kristen Bartholomew Pridgen and husband, Ray; his sister-in-law, Donna Moses and husband, Tom; his niece, Devon Pridgen; his nephews, Jared Wood, Landon Moses, and Carlton Moses; and many extended family members and good friends.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Tim’s life will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Nashville Baptist Church, 512 E Washington St, Nashville, NC 27856 with Rev. Dr. David Phillips and Rev. J. Kenneth Byrd, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM prior to the service at Nashville Baptist Church.
