Mr. Sandra lou Cristallo

Rocky Mount – Saundra Lou Wiggins Cristallo, age 83, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2025.  Born in Fayetteville, NC on October 16, 1941, she was the daughter of the late William Wilson Wiggins, Sr. and Eula Rowell Wiggins.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Peter Patrick “Pete” Cristallo.

Saundra grew up in Rocky Mount graduating in 1960 from Rocky Mount Senior High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy. Saundra proudly served in the Vietnam War as a nurse and was honorably discharged as a Navy Lieutenant.  She loved to travel, spend hours (sometimes days) solving New York Times crossword puzzles and cheering on her beleaguered New York Mets. A loving and devoted mother, nana, sister, godmother, aunt, and dear friend to many, Saundra, will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Saundra is survived by her daughter, Kevyan Ann Cristallo Sly (Robert) of Arlington VA; her grandson, Patrick Sly; her brothers, William Wilson “Bill” Wiggins Jr. (Marlene) and Charles Michael “Mike” Wiggins (Rubye); her sister-in-law Priscilla A. Cristallo Regalbuto; her goddaughter, Bridget Regalbuto deLutio (Jonathan); and her nieces and nephews, Nicholas Regalbuto (Colette); William Wiggins, III (Shannon); Bobby Boykin (Kathy), Caroline Garner (Ryan), Amber Vasilenko (Victor) Amanda Wiggins (Kyle Loveless); her great nieces and nephews; and many extended family members, and dearest friends.

Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

A Celebration of Life Service to celebrate Saundra’s life will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804.  Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
