Ruby J Winstead

Ruby Leigh Joyner Winstead died on November 28, 2010, at the age of 90.

Born in Nash County on May 10, 1920, she was the oldest daughter of the late Charlie Woodard Joyner and Mattie Mae Daniel Joyner Davis and Aaron Davis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Russell Dempsey Winstead, who died in 1981 after sharing 34 years of wedded bliss. Her brother, Nils Woodard Joyner, and son-in-law, Earnie Lee Strickland, Jr. also preceded her in death.

Surviving children include a daughter, Ann Winstead Strickland and a son, Charles Russell Winstead and wife Debbie Batts Winstead, one sister, Iris Joyner, all from Rocky Mount and two grandsons, Steven Russell Strickland and wife Brooke Edwards Strickland of Raleigh and Russell Bryan Winstead and wife Cherie Fowler Winstead of Wilson.
She was a member of Morton Memorial Presbyterian Church and was a retired sales clerk with Belk Tyler.
