Roy B Hedgepeth

roy hedgepeth

Roy Benjamin Hedgepeth, born in January, 1930 to Walter Wells Hedgepeth and Bettie Elizabeth Williams went home to Jesus on the night of June 17th with his family by his side. Proceeded in death by both parents, his brothers Marvin Hedgepeth, Billy W. Hedgepeth, sisters Pauline Hedgepeth, Margie Hedgepeth Williams and Doris Hedgepeth.

Survived by his wife, Hazel L Hedgepeth of Ohio, son Roy C. Hedgepeth and his wife Lynn, daughter Louise Hedgepeth Pittman and her husband Tommy, 3 Grandchildren, Nicholas and his wife Amanda, Amber Worthington and her husband Taylor and Rodney Hedgepeth. 3 Great-Grandchildren. Abbey Hedgepeth, Avery Hedgepeth and Colt Worthington.

Roy B. Hedgepeth was a man who loved his family and especially enjoyed his grand and great-grandchildren. Most visits to their homes found him laughing or playing with them. Roy was a Radio and TV tower erector in his earliest career, later he went on to driving long distance trucks for 40 plus years before retiring, only to go back driving part time for a few years until he finally retired for good. He was an unassuming, fairly quiet man but did love to joke around once he got to know you. He was the kind of man that would do anything for you and give you his last dollar, even if he didn’t know you.

He loved going to church and that was one thing he asked almost daily in the last few months of his life. “Are we going to church” or if you asked him questions, he would say “when I get back from church”. He got very attached to his brogan shoes, his Carolina Freight or Ryder hat and red coat to the point he wanted to sleep in them!

Roy was the kind of man that was the example his son, Roy C. used as a role model and the kind of man his daughter Louise used to compare other men by.

His leaving has left a huge hole in the family but we have THIS Hope, that the death and resurrection of Jesus gives us, we WILL see him again when we get to heaven!
