Mr. Ravin Carpenter
March 21, 1938 ~ June 7, 2026
Ravin Carpenter, a devoted father, brother, grandfather and friend to many, passed away on June 7, 2026. Born on March 21, 1938, he was the son of the late Walter Gray Carpenter and Cleora Williams Carpenter.
Ravin lived a life defined by service, craftsmanship, and kindness. A proud member of the American Legion and the Ruritan Club, he dedicated countless hours to building ramps and lending his skills to help those in need. Working with his hands brought him joy, and he was known for his talent in carpentry, his steady work ethic, and his willingness to show up whenever someone needed help. He also served 20 years in the United States Army where he served in Vietnam and became a Captain. His generosity and strength left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his daughter, Laura Hansen (Kevin); four stepdaughters, Emily Ballar, Jessica Parshall, JoAnn Bloom, and Jennifer Bloom; one stepson, Steven Parshall; his brother, Truman Carpenter (Myrtle); his sister, Rochelle Whitehead; one grandchild, Paul Hansen; and one step-grandchild, Ayden Baker.
Along with his parents, Ravin was preceded in death by the mother of his daughter, Laura Carpenter; three brothers, Smiley Carpenter, Redman Carpenter, and Alton Carpenter; and seven sisters, Ruth Bailey, Anna Whitman, Katie Lynch, Betty Johnson Earp, Mavis Webb, Roselle Tyson, and Eleanor Howell.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Cornerstone Funeral Home, with Pastor Travis Crocker officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
