Randolph Gilbert Tyson

Randolph “Gilbert” Tyson, Sr., 84, passed away December 29, 2023. He was born in Nash County to the late Randolph Yuant and Odell Edwards Tyson. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Frances Lamm and Sylvia Joyner.

Gilbert, affectionately known as “Baba,” leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 63 years, Doris; sons, Randy Tyson and wife Jeanne, and Chad Tyson and wife Kristen; daughters, Karen Luper and husband Buddy and Lisa Holloman and husband Hal; brother, Johnnie Tyson and wife Linda; sisters Elaine Whitehead and Genia Tyson Bone; grandchildren, Hallee, Tyson, and Conner Holloman; Phillip and Patrick Tyson; Erin and Bert (Nicole) Luper; and great-grandchild, Ryleigh Luper; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Tyson loved his family, friends and fur babies, Muffin, Lucy, Rascal, Maddie, and Penny.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, January 2, from 6-8 pm at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, January 3, at 11 am in the chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Cobb officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Cemetery.
