Peggy L Stroud

peggy stroud

Our hearts are broken as we announce the passing of Peggie Leonard Stroud of Rocky
Mount/Wilson. Gracefully, at the age of 82, she made her journey to be with her Lord on July
27, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones and her “puppy” Harvey Mae.
Peggie was born on March 6, 1941, daughter of Clint and Marjorie Leonard. Her brother,
Alvin, was her guardian and protector growing up, she always told us. She graduated from
Benvenue High School and Atlantic Christian College with Honors. She touched many lives as
a dedicated teacher serving the Nash and Edgecombe County school systems for 30 years.
She also taught in Franklin, Tennessee after she retired from North Carolina. Peggie was a
devoted Christian, a wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, and
Great-Great-grandmother. She loved “all” people and strived to make everyone feel special and
loved. She was very crafty and appreciated the beauty of nature and art. She enjoyed
traveling, reading, shopping, and always loved to browse the flea markets and auctions.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Cecil Stroud; sons Stan Harris
(Wendy), Mark Harris (Donielle), daughters Carol Alton (Brent); Connie Skinner (Scott);
grandchildren Catherine Evans (Billy); Jackson Alton; Lillie Brecker Harris; Luke Marsilgli;
great-grandchildren, Harley Perry, Jordan Hardie, Daisy Evans, Rody Evans, Tony Evans
(Kailey); great-great-grandchild, Rylan Evans, special niece and nephews, Kathy Schultze (Jeff),
Alvin Leonard, Jr., Brian Leonard; and her “puppy” Harvey Mae. She is reunited in Heaven with
both parents,Clint and Marjorie Leonard; her brother, Alvin Leonard; her daughter, Kathy
Winstead; and late husband, Dee Harris.
Funeral Services will be held at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Visitation will start at 1:00pm

Mount Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of Peggie’s favorite
