Pamelia Gail Baines Gardner

Heaven received Pamelia Baines Gardner, age 70, on Sunday, February 6th, 2022. Her devoted daughters, Cindy Gardner Patterson (Rocky) of Rocky Mount, NC, and Wendy Gardner Exley, (Eddie) of Castle Hayne, NC, held her hand as she slowly faded from this world and into the arms of Jesus.
Pam was an exceptional mother, who worked hard all her life to provide a beautiful life for her girls. Even though, in her eyes, she may not have had much, she gave everything she had and having her love was more valuable than any earthly possessions they may have owned. Most importantly, she made sure her girls were in church every Sunday morning, Sunday night and every Wednesday night and gave them the most precious gift of all; knowing and loving the Lord Jesus Christ. Anyone who knew them knew that she was a star in her girls’ eyes, and that’s all that ever mattered to her.
She devoted her life to loving her most precious possessions, her wonderful grandchildren, Tyler Foxworth (Madison), Zachary Patterson, Brooklyn Patterson, Haley Wiseman, and Alex Exley, who all called her Mema. She made so many precious memories, with too many to add here, for all of her grandchildren to hold dear.
Pam was born on September 26th, 1951 to her deceased parents, William Roy Baines and Dumie Whitley Baines. Her brothers, Kenneth Carl, Ronald Eugene, Royce Wayne, Larry Neil, William Roy Jr., and James Dwight Baines and her sister, Audrey Hope King, preceded her in death. She is survived by her sisters, Linda Faye Batchelor (Leon) of Wilson, NC and Wanda Joy Castleton of Greenville, NC, her Aunt Annie Roberson, many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
Pam worked for Schlage Lock, Guardian Corporation, Community Hospice, and then finally McLane where she retired less than a year ago. She enjoyed working in human resources and loved interacting with her coworkers, where she was known for playing pranks on the unexpected.
Mama’s green thumbs could make anything grow from an assortment of vegetables and herbs and beautiful flowers that surrounded her home. And we will miss her many home cooked meals, as well as giving tirelessly by hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas for our great big family.
Full of joy with a great big laugh, Pam lived her life touching others with her generosity, zeal for life, and is leaving behind a legacy of her love for Christ to all of us.
We will honor our Mama, Mema, Mother-In-Law, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Sister-in-Christ, and friend, with a “Celebration of Life-Graduation Ceremony” at Parkwood Baptist Church, 1731 Hunter Hill Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804, where she has been a member for 42 or more years on Friday, February 11th, 2022. A visitation with family and friends will be held in the sanctuary at 12:00pm, the service will begin at 1:00 with Rev. John Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warriors Project.
