Ottis Obie Tyson, Jr.

Ottis Obie Tyson Jr., 81, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017. He was born in Wilson County on October 24, 1935 to the late Ottis and Lula Cooper Tyson. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers, Bill and Mitchell Tyson; sisters Ruby Harrison, Margie Langley, Arshtine(Teeny) Holder, Emma Jean Vaughan and Barbara Ann Tyson. Ottis was a loving husband, son, brother, father, grandfather and uncle.

He is survived by his wife Andrea Wooten Tyson of the home; daughters Suzanne Tyson and Leanne Tyson Cox both of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, to whom he was known as Papa Tyson, Rachel Cox Jeffries of Charleston, SC, Frannie and Sidney Cox of Spartanburg, SC; brother Durwood Tyson(Janice) of Wilson, NC; sisters June Shaw of Rocky Mount, NC and Linda Moss(Ray) of Spring Hope, NC.

A visitation will be held at 7pm-9pm on Monday, October 9, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Rev. Bill Everett officiating.
