Myrtle E. Savage Herring

Myrtle Savage Herring, age 94, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 1, 2017.  Born in Nash County, NC on July 7, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John William and Rosa Robbins Savage.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Council Herring; children, Ronald Herring, Teresa Melton, and Rebecca Madigan.
Myrtle was a devoted follower of Christ and Godly mother, grandmother, great-grandmother.  She was a friend to all who knew her.  She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Myrtle leaves to cherish her memory, children Kathy Parks (Joe Pate), and Larry Herring (Ellen); sons-in-law, Roger Melton and Francis Madigan; grandchildren, Denise Bissette (Rex), Chris Herring (Barbara), Amy Branch (Joel), Toby Melton, David Madigan (Beth), and Jeff Madigan (Danielle); 16 great-grandchildren; and sister Dot Broughton.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Brandon Dees officiating.  Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and other times at the home of Kathy Parks.
