Miriam Landen Joyner

Miriam Elizabeth Joyner would like to inform you that her work on earth is done. She received a call from her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, November 21st, 2017 at the age of 77 while at home.
Miriam was born January 6th 1940 to Ally and Lundie Landen of Rocky Mount. She was the eldest of four children (Vivian Davis, Nancy Jordan, and Tommy Landen). She married her sweetheart, Lynwood Joyner, June 21st 1959 and gave birth to her only son, Todd, in 1964. She was employed as a Secretary for the Department of Public Works for the city of Rocky Mount until 1996 when she retired. In retirement, Miriam found pleasure in reading, rose gardening, and doing drawings and paintings with her only grandson, Jacob Joyner.
Miriam gave her life to Christ and was a faithful member of Union Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for over 40 years. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, supportive mother-in-law, and compassionate grandmother. Miriam was a faithful friend to all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother and leaves behind family and friends who will miss her. Surviving are two sisters (Vivian and Nancy), her husband (Lynwood), her son (Todd), her daughter-in-law (Lynn), and grandson (Jacob).
A simple graveside service will be held at Rocky Mount Memorial Park on Friday, November, 24th, 2017 at 2 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to Union Missionary Baptist Church.
