Lois Taylor Turner
December 17, 1937 ~ February 16, 2021
Lois Taylor Turner, age 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on December 17, 1937, she was the daughter of the late George Washington Taylor, Sr. and Dora Dew Taylor. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Freddie Nelson Turner, Sr.; her brother, George Washington Taylor, Jr.; and her sister, Betty Jean Lewis.
Lois was a long-time member of Proctor’s Chapel Baptist Church where she graciously served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a very active and faithful servant who loved her family, her church family, and her many friends. Lois also was a member of Pins & Friends Pin-Pal Club across the country for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Lois is survived by her sons, Freddie Nelson Turner, Jr. (Ginger) of Rocky Mount and Randall Scott Turner of Clayton; her grandchildren, Sara T. Whitley (Al) of Clayton and Kelsey Lee Turner of Rocky Mount; her great-granddaughter, Emma Faith Whitley of Clayton; her brother, Marvin Ray Taylor of Rocky Mount; her sister-in-law, Betty Louis Taylor of Rocky Mount; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service to celebrate Lois’ life will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Rev. Walt Cooper officiating. A visitation with the family will follow the service at the graveside.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the family is requesting the need for social distancing and wearing of masks due to health concerns faced around our nation at this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lois’ memory to Proctor’s Chapel Baptist Church, 2917 Old Wilson Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27801.
