Linda Burgess Hicks, age 78, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 16, 2022. Born March 24, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Leroy Dean Burgess and Hallie House Burgess. She is predeceased by her brother, Steve Burgess and her niece, Christi Burgess Viverette.

Linda was a faithful lifetime member of Avalon Baptist Church and dearly loved her church family! She was very active in the WMU, sang in the choir, loved her special friends in the ladies Sunday school class and was always willing to help others and serve the Lord to be a witness for Him.

Family was everything to her and her House and Burgess family, as well as the Hicks family held a special place in her heart and she always cherished every family gathering or talk she had with them.

Linda leaves behind for her precious family that she loved so much a legacy of love, strength, and faithfulness. Being a wife, mother, and grandmother were her greatest blessings.

Linda leaves behind to cherish her memory until we see her again in Heaven her husband of 59 years, whom she loved and admired Melvin Bess Hicks, Sr., her daughters, Julie Hicks Hathaway and husband, Bobby of Greenville, SC, and Alison Hicks Bradley and husband, Dave of Nashville, NC, and her son Melvin Bess Hicks, Jr. and wife, Jennifer of Rocky Mount.
