Junie Dee Pearce

Junie Dee Pearce, age 81, died peacefully on Friday, October 23, 2015, surrounded by family and friends. Junie was born in Nash County on April 9, 1934 to the late Lula Frazier Pearce and the late Leamon Dee Pearce.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Ann Drake Pearce. He was a lifetime resident of Rocky Mount, NC and graduated from Rocky Mount High School in 1952. After his service in the U.S. Army, he became a firefighter for the City of Rocky Mount and subsequently retired from the City of Rocky Mount as the Collector of Revenue.

He was widely known for his knowledge of antiques and enjoyed his collections. He also was an avid sports fan. He attended many sporting events and especially enjoyed attending those of his grandchildren. His many friends always enjoyed his entertaining wit. He was a member of Englewood Baptist Church.

He is survived by his sons, Michael Dee Pearce and wife Renee of Rocky Mount and Philip Drake Pearce of Yonkers, NY; two grandchildren, Alexander Dee Pearce and Rachel Renee Pearce. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Carol Drake Mears and husband Tommy of Rocky Mount, and niece, Shannon Leigh Mears of Raleigh, NC, and special friend Marjorie Ramsey and the Ramsey family.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 27 , 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home as well as other times at the home of June Dee Pearce.
