Joseph “Joe” Anthony Hardy, age 68, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 25, 2021. Born in Nash County, NC, on April 21, 1952, he was the son of the late John Oliver “J.O.” Hardy, Jr. and Armentha Vick Hardy.

Joe was a man of God, serving as Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Youth Leader, Choir Member, as well as in other church capacities. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church for many years and more recently at Englewood Baptist Church. Joe was a 24-year cancer survivor. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, and he will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Joe is survived by his wife of 45 years, Phyllis Patterson Hardy; his daughters, Paula Hardy, of Durham and Kathy Gallo (Casey), of Knightdale; his grandchildren, Kayla Gallo and Nathan Gallo; his brothers, Wayne Hardy (Jonah Faye), Kent Hardy (Sue); his sister, Susan Hardy Holland (Dean), all of Nashville; his faithful pet-companion, Copper; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and many close friends.

A Private Family Funeral Service to celebrate Joe’s life will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Englewood Baptist Church, 1350 S. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Dr. Chris Aiken and Pastor Dylan Anderson officiating.

The family, in an extra effort to keep the safety of themselves and others a priority, will be having a virtual service. It will be live streamed at https://livestream.com/accounts/12940574/events/9503366

A Private Family Burial will take place at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Joe’s memory to a charity of your choice.
