Obituary for Jeannette Batts Bloodworth
Jeannette Batts Bloodworth died peacefully on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the age of 90 in Cary, North Carolina. Born in Nash County on September 9, 1933, Jeannette was the sixth of eight children born to the late John David Batts and Bertha Davis Batts.
Jeannette is survived by her daughter, Nanette Bloodworth Weadon, son-in-law, Mark Donovan Weadon of Cary, NC; grandsons Mark Donovan Weadon II (Meredith), Benjamin Matthew Weadon (Nancy), great grandchildren, Mark Donovan Weadon III, Madilyn Jean Weadon, Betsy Salisbury Weadon, and Claire Batts Weadon, all of Charlotte, NC; her niece, Robin Batts Stickney and many nieces and nephews.
Jeannette is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Jack Timothy Bloodworth, parents and her brothers and sisters, John David “JD” Batts, Jr., Charles Bennett “Bud” Batts, Evelyn Carroll “Sis” Batts Rhea, Harvey Talmadge “Tab” Batts, Chester Morris “Sambo” Batts, James Speight “Sonny” Batts and Mickey Donald Batts.
Jeannette was a life-long, devoted member of Union Missionary Baptist Church. She served the Lord as a Sunday school and Vacation Bible School teacher, church treasurer, communion preparer, and oversaw the church altar flowers. Over the years, she served on numerous church committees.
Jeannette loved the Lord as well as bringing her family together. She loved working in her yard and garden. In her yard, pinecones were only allowed in the trees, not in the yard. She planted zinnia seeds every summer to make fresh cut flower arrangements. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of her life.
A gathering to celebrate Jeannette’s life will be held at 10:30am, Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel, 1052 South First Street, Nashville, NC followed by interment at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday, September 6, 2024, from 5pm – 7pm at Cornerstone Funeral Home.
