ROCKY MOUNT – Jane Edwards Clark, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2023. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Rufus Cecil “R.C.” Clark.

Jane was a woman of many talents. Her love for music led her to become the music director at West Mount Baptist Church for eight years. Jane’s passion for worship was contagious, and she inspired many people to deepen their faith through music. Jane then moved on with her husband to First Baptist Church of Rocky Mount, where she continued to serve with steadfast dedication. She was a true servant of the Lord, always willing to lend a helping hand, offer a kind word of encouragement, or simply be a listening ear for those in need. From the beginning, she always had a passion for cooking and serving others. Jane saw the need for a well-managed kitchen in the church and took it upon herself to make sure everything was in order. She spent countless hours planning menus, shopping for ingredients, and preparing meals for the congregation. Jane’s love for God and her desire to serve others was evident in every dish she prepared. Jane’s kindness, generosity, and love touched the lives of so many people over the years. Jane was also an avid gardener and a tamer of nature. She spent many hours tending to her beautiful flower garden, which was a source of joy and tranquility for her. Jane’s legacy lives on in the memories of those she touched. Her unwavering faith in God, her commitment to serving others is an inspiration to all who knew her. Jane was a virtuous woman in every sense of the word, and her life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and selflessness.
