James Samuel Moss

James Samuel Moss, 88, received his heavenly promotion Wednesday, May 6, 2020. He was born July 19, 1931 in Nash County to the late William “Pharoah” and Ida Moss. James loved his family time and vacations from the mountains to the coast, camping, fishing, and Stony Creek Fire Department and Rescue Squad where he worked over 38 years before he retired. James in his later years became a dedicated employee of Cornerstone Funeral Home, and with great pride he greeted many families. The staff simply knew him as “Pa”, and will forever be honored to known such a great-man. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 6 brothers; 5 sisters and granddaughter Anna.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 28 years Helene Moss; step-sons “Thought of as his sons” Frank Moss and wife Susan, Daniel Moss and wife Amanda, Sammy Moss and wife Sherrie; grandchildren Jennifer Chappell, Brittany Easterly, Victoria and Jubie Moss; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with family and friends will be Saturday, May 9, 2020 from 12:00-2:00PM with a celebration of life service to follow at Stony Creek Rescue Squad with Rev. Dennis Williams officiating. Burial will be at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
Flowers will be accepted donations may be made to Stony Creek Rescue Squad.
