James Elbert Pittman, 67, passed away Monday, January 12, 2004. Born July 15, 1936, in Nash County, he was the son of the late Elbert Lee and Minnie Leggett Pittman. James retired as a captain with the Rocky Mount Fire Department after 30 years of service. He then worked as a painter part time. He was a member of South Rocky Mount Church of God where he served as a councilman and also on the pastoral council. James was a devoted Christian, a loving husband, father and friend to everyone. He really enjoyed bowling and making delicious cakes.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 26 years, Faye Stanley Pittman of the home; daughter, Delight Pittman of the home; his son, James Earl Pittman and wife JoLynne of Macclesfield; one sister, Juanita Davis and husband, Dan of Georgia; three grandchildren, Christina, Stacey and Matthew; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will recieve friends Wednesday, January 14, 2004, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Bowling Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 15, 2004 aat 11 a.m. in the chapel of Bowling Funeral Home with Dr. David Whitley officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
Arrangements are entrusted to Bowling Funeral Home and Crematory, Rocky Mount, 661 Engliah Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
