James David Powell

James “David” Powell, 54, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, Jan 3, 2009. David was born September 28, 1954 in Wilson County. He was the son of the Late Ronel Mallie Powell and Virginia Doris Batchelor Powell and grandson of the late Luther and Rosa Batchelor. He was preceded in death by his brother, Luther Joseph Powell and his uncle, Jesse Willard Batchelor.
David leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Penny Bracey Powell; son David Heath Powell; brothers, Ronald Mallie Powell Jr. and wife Gayle, William Earl Powell and wife Betty Carol; special aunt, Merdie Batchelor; special cousins, Debbie Langley and Jesse Batchelor; several nieces and nephews; his Boddie-Noell family and very special friend, Donna Reynolds.
David expressed many times his great appreciation for all the support that he and Penny receives during his battle with cancer. David was a joy and inspiration to all who knew him. He touched many lives and will greatly be missed.
Visitation will be today from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, Jan 6, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Northside Community Church with Dr. Mark Pridgen officiating. Entombment will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
