James Calvin Creech

James Calvin Creech Sr., 72, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 1996. He was born Feb. 28, 1925, in Johnston County, son of the late Charlie and Katie Rose Creech. A veteran of World War II he was a Rocky Mount barber and was a member of Queen City Masonic Lodge 602 and the Scottish Rite Bodies in Enfield and New Bern. Surviving: wife, Hilda Pittman Creech; daughter, Sallie Overton of Rocky Mount; sons, James Calvin Creech Jr. of Sacramento, Calif., Charlie Clarence Creech of Rocky Mount; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home, Sunset Ave. Chapel, with the Rev. Clinton Lawyer officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral, home, other times at the home, 636 E. Duke Circle.
