Rocky Mount – Jaime H. De La Fuente, Sr., age 58, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025. Born in Matamoros, Mexico on March 13, 1967, he was the son of the late Refugio De La Fuente and Dolores Alvarez-Santana De La Fuente. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Martalicia “Martha” Quiroz De La Fuente; and one brother.
Jaime was the life of the party and the heart of every gathering. A talented cook who could whip up just about anything, Jaime was the go-to for friends and family whenever something needed preparing or someone needed a helping hand in the kitchen. His culinary skills were only matched by his joyful spirit— Jaime had a gift for making people laugh, and he never met a stranger. His warmth, humor, and easygoing nature made him a friend to all. He loved the water, spending countless weekends at the lake or beach, soaking up the sun and enjoying the calm. If you ever saw a photo of Jaime, chances are there was a Bud Light or a glass of Crown Royal nearby—his favorite way to unwind after a day’s work. Jaime was a dedicated employee of East Industries, where he worked in maintenance for over 20 years. There wasn’t much he couldn’t fix—he took pride in figuring things out and getting the job done right. Whether at work or with loved ones, Jaime was always there when something needed mending, above all, Jaime deeply loved his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his generous heart, his infectious energy, his love for good food and good company, and the many lives he touched along the way.
Jaime is survived by his sons, Jaime H. De La Fuente, Jr. of Rocky Mount and Adrian De La Fuente and wife, Bianca of Greensboro; his daughters, Priscilla Martinez of Austin, TX and Lucero De La Fuente of Rocky Mount; his grandchildren, Alanna Marie De La Fuente, Mya Isabel De La Fuente, Jayla Joy De La Fuente and Chastin Porter Nguyen; and his four brothers; his three sisters; and his special friend, Gloria Menendez.
