Ira Thompson, 68, a retired textile worker for Burlington Industries, died Saturday in Nash General Hospital.
A Wayne County native, he resided at 1513 Lewis St. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. from the Johnson Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Charles Arnold. Burial will follow in Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Isabell Watkins Thompson of the home; seven sons, Emmitt, Alvin and Glen Thompson, all of Rocky Mount, Daniel Ray Thompson of Raleigh, Jerry Thompson of Culpepper, Va., Talmadge Thompson of Plymouth and Bernice Thompson of Windsor; one daughter, Mrs. Robert Moss of Fairfax, Va.; 17 grandchildren: four great-grandchildren; one brother, Hiram Wiggins of Mount Olive; three sisters, Mrs. Scenia Ferguson and Mrs. Delia Kinlaw, both of Asheboro, and Mrs. Clarissa Humphrey of Hope Mills.
