Hilda Rochelle Melvin

Hilda Rochelle Melvin, age 75, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017. Born in Cumberland County, NC on November 12, 1942, she was the daughter of Ralph Melvin and Ruth Starling Melvin. She was preceded in death by her sons, Charles Brent Langley and Christopher Scott Langley; father, Ralph Melvin; and sister, Annette Viverette.
Hilda’s love for preparing family meals which would bring laughter and happiness to all and was always a cherished moment. She had an open door policy to come inside her home and eat at her table, to include family and friends. She was a devoted caregiver to her mother, as well as to others. Her generosity and selflessness knew no bounds. Hilda touched the lives of so many people and will always be remembered with love and kindness. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend to all.
Hilda leaves behind to cherish her memory, mother, Ruth Starling Melvin of Rocky Mount; son, Ross Langley of Sharpsburg, and daughter, Jennifer Smith and husband, Larry, of Rocky Mount. She is also survived by grandchildren, Isabel Smith and Isaiah Smith; sister, Bonnie Langley of Rocky Mount; nieces, Bridgette King, Belinda Boswell, Barbara Hardy, Brenda McKenney, and Beverly Boswell; and nephew, Kyle Viverette.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Pastor Gary Wood officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, January 3, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
