Hetty Ramsey “Granny” Jefferson, 75, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Oct. 1, 2005. Hetty was born on Aug. 24, 1930 in Nash County and lived most of her life in Rocky Mount, NC. She was a devoted wife, mother and nurse’s aide who touched many lives with her love and kindness.
She was preceded in death by her son, James Gray Jefferson; father, Archie McNeil Ramsey, Sr.; mother Minnie Piland Ramsey; a brother, Archie McNeil Ramsey, Jr.; two sisters, Billie Ramsey Hudson and Marie Ramsey Moore; and a great-grandson Zacheriah Ojeda.
She was a member of Emmanuel Holiness Church of Rocky Mount.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 50 years, Calvin Jefferson of the home; three sons, John Jefferson and wife Helen of Nashville, NC; Roy Jefferson and wife Erin of Nashville, NC; and Gary Jefferson and wife Bobbi of Middlesex, NC; three daughters, Sheila Garcia of Zebulon, NC; Della Hogston and husband Tony of Salem VA; and Betty Zepeda of Pilot, NC; sisters, Mattie Zammiello, Betty Ramsey Daughtridge ( her twin sister); brother, Richard Ramsey; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and her beloved kitten Suzy-Q.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005 at Johnson Funerals and Cremations from 7 to 8:30 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005 in the chapel of Johnson Funerals and Cremations, 1912 Sunset Ave. Rocky Mount, with Pastor Gerald Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
