Gladys Marie Matthews

Gladys Marie Matthews, 68, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021. She was born January 3, 1953 in Nash County to the late Elbert Radford and Nellie Connie. Gladys loved her family, and taught as a substitute teacher for Nash County Schools. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Butch Radford, and daughter, Emily Kay Short.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Mark Matthews; daughter, Candace Creech (Ward); son, Joshua Luke Matthews; sisters, Jenny King (Nelson) and Sheron Clark (Tim); grandchildren, David Jr., Matthew, and Taylor Gardner, John Luke Matthews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home with Reverend Lisa Mercer officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.

Family has requested that masks be worn according to CDC regulations.
