DECEMBER 20, 1926-DECEMBER 13, 2009

Just as a lighthouse stands tall and strong at the water’s edge to guide her ships to safe harbor, to warn of trouble ahead, our father, husband, and grandfather has watched over us, kept us safe on our journeys, and provided a life of care and love.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Louise Pennington, of fifty-nine years; his three children, Fred, Roy and Kathy Page Rose, his respected three grandsons and his cherished five granddaughters. As he departed his life on this earth, he was embraced by the thoughts, loving touches, smiles and committed love in his home of fifty-five years.

His family expresses a special honor to the caregivers in the home, Georgeanna, Leanna, Michelle, April and Jessica, and to the guidance of Hospice. He was given saintly care in his illness by his God-given gift, nurse, and daughter Kathy, who provided spiritual, emotional, and physical care to her father and guidance to her family.

Clifton was a hero to his country, family, and his friends. Semper Fi.

The family will receive friends 7-8:30pm Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A funeral service to honor and remember Clifton will be held at 11:00am Thursday, December 17, 2009, at Englewood United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
